A Cactus Among Flowers is an illustrated children’s book that uses plants as a metaphor to explore themes of difference, exclusion, and belonging. The story follows a small cactus living on a windowsill among flowers who value softness and beauty. Because she is prickly and different, the cactus is isolated and eventually pushed out of that space. After falling into the garden below, she discovers a new community that accepts her as she is, allowing her to finally bloom. Through soft pastel illustrations and storytelling, the project reflects on experiences of discrimination and the importance of finding spaces where people are valued for their differences.
